School Facilities

Library

The school has a well-stocked fiction and non-fiction library. All children choose books each week to take home.  There are also class libraries that the children can access daily.

Computing

The school has a variety of resources to enable children to develop their computing skills, including hardware such as laptops, programmable robots and Ipads and a wide range of software. The children are taught how to interact with the resources and develop programming skills to understand how technology works and its uses in everyday life.

Every classroom has an Interactive whiteboard, desk top computers and Ipads which are used throughout the curriculum to enhance the children’s learning.

Willow Room

Willow Room has been developed to provide dedicated support and intervention to children whom thrive on an individualised curriculum.  In collaboration with parents and our school special educational needs leader, individual children or small groups can access specific activities led by highly trained staff in Willow Room.  Support is tailored to meet specific needs and maybe both academic or non-academic, short or longer term.

Cookery Room

In July 2018 a project was completed to bring cookery to our school curriculum.  The school now has a modern, well-equipped cookery room which is used not only for traditional cookery lessons but also to support children to develop other skills, such as communication, physical skills and social skills through cookery.

School Outings and other enhancements

To support each topic of learning, the children will benefit from a planned enhancement opportunity.  These may be events that take place in school for example fairs, galleries or visits from theatre groups or other specialists.  There may also be enhancements planned that take place outside of school that are organised to places of educational interest.

We access the local area on a regular basis with visits to the church, walks around the village or to the nearby care home.  Parents are asked to give permission for these visits when children join the school.  From time to time children will go on visits that involve travelling on coaches.

There is clear guidance for the safe organisation of school outings.  Parent’s signatures are always required and transport is checked for safety. The Governing Body has a policy for educational visits and outings, a copy of which is available for inspection in the School Office.

Outdoor areas

As well as very attractive and extensive playing fields the school is fortunate to have a wild conservation area, a sensory garden that includes outdoor instruments, a sports area with multi-purpose goal and all-weather surface, gardening spaces that some of the children help to maintain, a trim trail and Forest School area with a pond that is accessible under the supervision of trained adults.

Clubs

We offer a variety of clubs for children, which take place before school, during lunchtime and after school.  Lunchtime clubs include Mathseeds club and Gardening club.  After school clubs include Cookery and Lego.  These are mainly provided free of charge, by the staff and volunteers.  Some clubs offered by external providers, such as Football or Dance, have a small fee. Before and After school wrap-around care is also available providing breakfast in the mornings and light snacks in the afternoon as well as fun activities.  Our wrap-around care is available between 7am and 6pm.  There is a fee for wrap-around care.  Places for all before and after school clubs must be booked in advance.
