Helping in School

Opportunities for helping informally in School

For those parents, who are available during school hours and who are willing to give time, there are many ways in which your help will be most welcomed:

  • helping teachers in the classroom with activities
  • reading with children
  • helping children to cook and prepare food
  • preparing craft materials
  • helping in the library
  • laminating work cards
  • helping at school functions and on outings
  • sharing personal skills with groups of children
  • collating and checking vouchers

We are now required to ask any staff and volunteers who work in school to complete a disclosure form online and be checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to help and work in school.  If you want to help in school please do not feel that you have to commit yourself to whole morning or afternoon sessions.  A short period of support, such as an hour a week, will be greatly appreciated by the staff.  Please come to the school office to arrange a time when the DBS application can be completed with Mrs D Betts.
